It's a fantastic capture... yet again... Matt!! However, your purple martin looks very much like our tree swallows..?

@amy: They are similar. However, the Tree Swallow is green-backed, while the Martin sports an iridescent purple-blue which darkens with age. Additionally, the Martin male's underbelly will darken completely. The Tree Swallow will not loose it's light underbelly as it matures.
