Spectacular shot of this heron. It ought to be on a conservation calendar. What kind of lens did you use to get in this close with so little picture noise?

@Viewfinder: What a huge and timely comment. Publication of a conservation calendar has been in my head for a while.
This was shot with my trusty Canon 100-400 IS/USM L. The lack of noise, however, is a function of ISO/ASA which was set at 200. I'll not go on, as Amy encourages my verbosity despite my attempts to be concise.
Sigh... Matt this is so incredible. I truly can't find the words. Magnificent! What a truly amazing moment to freeze for ever. (Hmmm, maybe not so speechless). The absolute joy you must've felt after capturing this image!!
