@Bob Israel: Thanks. I was about 20 feet away, shooting a Canon 100mm-400mm L series at 400mm.

@Twelvebit: My bird education has all come after the fact. If I get the shot, I research the bird before posting the image.

I have sold prints of various subjects in coffee shops, street fairs and farmer's markets. I've also shot architecture and portraits. This year, I have skipped all that in order to hone my wildlife chops.
