@amy: Thanks for the many kind remarks of late! The geese are indeed the bullies of the local wetland. The bit hanging out of it's mouth is a garden slug it didn't bother swallowing before attempting to peck my flesh off.
400mm really isn't much in the wildlife photography world, and my camera bag still weighs in at 38 pounds without my tripod. When I encounter photographers at local haunts, I often look like the poor kid in the group who can't afford proper gear.
