@amy: Right place, right time. (Again, I can't stress enough my reliance on incredible luck.) I was driving by the local wetland when I noticed a gang of crows exhibiting aggressive diving behavior. I drove as close as I could, parked the car, tried not to wet my pants as I assembled a camera from the trunk, and shot away.

He was perched about 25 feet up and about 20 feet away. I missed more than I got as the light was very high-contrast, the angle wasn't the best, the scene was action-packed and the 2x extender doesn't allow auto-focus.
