Wonderful. I agree with Aaron, the bird is a nice touch. The scenery is phemonenal, but, the thing that sets this photo apart for me are the buildings in the foreground. They allow the viewer to appreciate the incredible scale of this imposing mountain. It is just hovering up there in the sky over the town. Just amazing. With those sorts of hills around, I can begin to appreciate the need for yesterday's tram!

@ Aaron, Stu, Helen and Duncan- The bird is part of the same group in the image posted 12-4. It happened that I was walking in the same direction they were flocking.

@ claireg - Your "this" is a might vague, so... Mount Hood is located in the Cascade range in northwest Oregon. It is a dormant volcano standing 3426 m. The shot was taken at the International Rose Test Garden, located in Washington Park, about ten minutes from downtown Portland, a portion of which is shown in the foreground.

The nearby (relative to the mountain) houses gives the picture a nice depth. A real postcard picture :)
